Rural Transport Programme (RTP)

The TFI Local Link is an Ireland-based programme managed by the National Transport Authority that provides rural public transport across Ireland with the aim to reduce isolation and increase community access.

The programme operates over 90 routes with 2.5 million passenger journeys in 2019.

TFI Local Link also supports volunteer-run community car schemes and is piloting electric rural buses as part of its environmental efforts. 90% of the included services are wheelchair accessible.

The programme is planned to be expanded through 2027 to further improve rural connectivity.
